If you’re looking for a spooktacular good time this fall in the Smokies, you’ll find plenty of Halloween activities to help celebrate the season! Whether you prefer the chilling thrills of a terrifying house or something more kid-friendly like trick or treating, you can do it all throughout Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville! Here are 4 fun things to do in the Smoky Mountains to celebrate Halloween:

1. Attend the Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood

While walking through the theme park at this family-friendly event, you’ll discover a towering Pumpkin Tree, creatively carved pumpkins and larger-than-life pumpkin icons! Be sure not to miss Hoot Owl Hollow, the enchanting hideaway of a gigantic, glowing owl and its dozens of friends roosting in the trees, atop buildings and across the hillside!

2. Take a Ghost Tour Through Sevierville or Gatlinburg

Another one of the fun things to do in the Smoky Mountains to celebrate Halloween is with a fascinating ghost tour! The Ghost Walk of Gatlinburg offers a ghost and historical tour of downtown Sevierville, as well as a walking night time tour of Gatlinburg with some of the town’s most haunted places! These are storytelling experiences where you’ll learn about some of the area’s local legends, history, superstitions and more! You’ll also be happy to know that the tours with the Ghost Walk of Gatlinburg are among the most affordable in town, as kids 12 and under go free with a paying adult!

3. Dare to Enter a Haunted House

Mysterious MansionIf you have what it takes to make your way through a terrifying haunted house, you’ll be thrilled to know that Gatlinburg is home to two haunted house attractions! The Mysterious Mansion is a 3 story haunted mansion where you’ll face your fears while winding through secret passageways, eerie dark corridors and winding staircases! Meanwhile, Ripley’s Haunted Adventure offers a walk-through experience with frightening ghouls around every bend! While the Mysterious Mansion and Ripley’s Haunted Adventure are open all year to brave souls, they become even more sinister in October with special Halloween presentations!

4. Trick or Treating

Of course, no Halloween is complete without trick or treating! If you’re lucky enough to be in the Smokies on Halloween itself, there are a couple of fun options available for children! The annual Ripley’s Trick or Treat Kick Off Karnival takes place at Ripley’s Aquarium Plaza in Gatlinburg and features activities such as games, toys, food, candy and a costume contest! Another fantastic option is the annual Trick or Treat event at The Island in Pigeon Forge, where kids can go trick or treating and enjoy a spooky fountain show!
